Vladimir Ovtcharov

Vladimir Ovtcharov was born and raised in Sophia, Bulgaria, where he attended the Secondary Artistic School of Applied Arts from 1977 thru 1982.    He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Nickolay Pavlovitch National Academy of Fine Arts in 1989.   In 1996 he and his wife, fellow artist Daniela, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1995 and the couple lives there permanently now.


1985 thru Present:  Freelance artistic work with Traditional Orthodox Icons and Sacred Arts;  Modern and abstract art;  Miniatures;  Book Illustrations;  Drawings;  Watercolor, Tempera, Acrylic and Oil paintings;  Mass Media pieces;  Fine Jewelry and enamel.

2002 – 2003:  Founded and operated the Tangra Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico which  exclusively represented works by Daniela and Vladimir Ovtcharov

1993 – 1996:  Participated in exhibitions organized and held in The Crypt of the Patriarchal Cathedral Memorial Church, St.  Alexander Nevski.    The Crypt is a division of the Bulgarian National Gallery of Fine Arts and is association with the national History Museum of Sofia.  The Crypt, dedicated to Christian Orthodox arts is considered the most prestigious national icon gallery and center for religious Arts in Bulgaria.

1990 – 1993:   Collaborated and Contributed to Hemus Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria.  The gallery has several exhibitions halls throughout Bulgaria, as well as organizing and participating in art shows world-wide

Collaborated with Unicat Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria, an international art dealer with exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Holland and Poland.

Founded and operated the Adamant K. Finer Arts and Crafts Gallery of Sofia, located in the lobby of the Novotel  Europa.  The gallery offered a collection of traditional Bulgarian arts and crafts, including icons, copper and iron works, jewelry and modern paintings, print, textiles and ceramics.  The gallery featured the work of Daniela and Vladimir Ovtcharov.
